The Moorings
Mudeford, Dorset
The Moorings in Mudeford, Dorset, is a spectacular example of how a contemporary architectural extension can complement and enhance a Grade II listed property in a stunning coastal location. Enjoying a magnificent harbourfront setting, this historic home features a sweeping lawn that leads directly to the water’s edge - and even includes its own private jetty.
Our clients approached us to replace a series of poorly conceived additions with something more refined, sensitive, and striking. We developed several design concepts, each exploring how modern architecture could sit harmoniously alongside the original listed structure.
Our preferred proposal is a sweeping, curvaceous contemporary extension featuring a curved standing seam zinc roof, curved glass façade, and a glazed infinity pool overlooking the harbour. The result is a dazzling piece of modern design that celebrates the property’s unique setting, providing panoramic views across the water while maintaining the heritage and character of this historic home.
This project demonstrates DUA Architecture’s expertise in listed building extensions and contemporary coastal architecture across Dorset and the New Forest.
