This design, for a kitchen/dining/lounge extension, unfortunately never came to fruition. Faced with the task of renovating the existing kitchen/diner of a large detached property, our solution was to design a discreet new element which would be linked back to the existing dwelling. The glazed link would also form a new entranceway to the building.
The building was designed with a long, low slung, standing seam zinc roof, which would overhang on the southern end to provide covered outdoor space. Ceilings would be open to the roof providing additional spatial quality, with exposed scissor trusses providing structural support. Large format glazed sliding doors would enable the residents to throw open the room to the garden in the summer months.
