More Information
Greensleeves is a contemporary house, perched high on a cliff overlooking the river Avon. It replaced a derelict dwelling on a severely overgrown plot.
Greensleeves
There are three main elements. Each has two storeys which are distinguished by different heights and materials. The bedroom ‘wing’ is clad in white render, the central reception and lounge is clad in terracotta and the kitchen / dining / master bedroom suite is clad in timber. A single storey attached garage leads via a utility space to the kitchen.
The house bristles with energy saving materials and equipment but the design is all about the spectacular view over the river to the New Forest. To this end it follows the classic tradition of teasing the visitor with hints of excitement before opening up internally with a spatial composition that embraces the spectacular vista.
Location: Avon Castle, Dorset
Completed: 2013
