Daniells Walk
Daniells Walk is quickly becoming one of the premier addresses in Lymington, and a number of the properties along its length have had extensive renovations in recent years. DUA Architecture was commissioned to design and oversee substantial works to this property, which started life as a modest bungalow.
Our client's initial brief was to entirely replace the existing roof, allowing for improved first floor accommodation. Furthermore, they wished to substantially replan the ground floor, and ‘redress’ the property with new cladding and fenestration.
The challenge was to make the resultant building feel cohesive rather than an assembly of existing fragments. Careful planning of the internal layout and a consistent material palette helped us to achieve this. Large rooflights, cathedral ceilings, staircase voids and expansive glazing all mean that the spatial quality of the renovated dwelling is greatly improved. Also, increased levels of insulation, and the installation of solar panels, has resulted in a dwelling which is far more energy efficient.
