Setley Lodge

Setley, New Forest

This ultra-modern home extension in the New Forest showcases how contemporary design can seamlessly blend with a traditional setting. Tasked with designing a replacement annexe for this elegant country property, DUA Architecture created a self-contained modern dwelling connected to the main house via a striking glazed link.

The new living space features expansive glazing that frames views across the surrounding gardens, while a raised roofline floods the interior with natural light and enhances the sense of space. Finished in dark black render, the extension provides a bold architectural contrast to the lighter tones of the main house, helping it settle discreetly into the wooded backdrop of the coppice.

The project’s success is a testament to a visionary client willing to embrace a bold contemporary design, and to the skilled craftsmanship of the contractor who brought the architectural detailing to life. This project stands as a fine example of how modern home extensions in the New Forest can be both daring and harmonious, enhancing traditional properties with refined, architectural elegance.
