World War 100 Trail Sign
Brockenhurst, New Forest
DUA Architecture is proud to have contributed to the New Zealand Government’s First World War Centenary Programme, delivering a lasting legacy project in Brockenhurst, New Forest.
Appointed by Locales NZ, DUA Architecture secured planning permission and supported the procurement and installation of one of the interpretive trail signs forming part of the Ngā Tapuwae First World War Trails - a project commemorating New Zealand’s contribution to the First World War. This heritage interpretation sign stands in Brockenhurst, where many New Zealand soldiers were stationed during the First World War. The sign helps visitors understand the area’s wartime history and the strong connection between New Zealand and the New Forest.
The sign’s front panel features a symbolic design, forming the iconic New Zealand silver fern from silhouettes of WWI soldiers and their shadows - a subtle, poignant tribute to those who served.
This project demonstrates DUA Architecture’s ability to combine heritage sensitivity, planning expertise, and design excellence in delivering meaningful international memorial projects.
