Pinehurst Community Church
West Moors, Dorset
DUA Architecture led the extension and redesign of Pinehurst Community Church, improving the way the building connects with both its congregation and the wider community. Our design focuses on creating a more welcoming entrance, improved accessibility, and modern social spaces that encourage community engagement.
Use of glass and natural materials means that the building presents a fresh, friendly face, symbolising openness and connection with the local community. Outdoor spaces have been designed to promote impromptu social gatherings and strengthen the church’s presence as a local meeting point.
Inside, the new foyer and cafeteria form a flexible “spill-out” space where worshippers can meet and relax after services. Vaulted ceilings and high-level windows flood the space with natural light, creating an uplifting and contemporary environment that enhances both comfort and community spirit.
This church extension in West Moors is a perfect example of how thoughtful architectural design can help faith buildings adapt to modern needs while remaining warm, welcoming, and inclusive.
