Hamble-le-Rice, Hampshire

This small yet delightful home extension in Hamble-le-Rice, Hampshire showcases how creative architectural design can transform even modest spaces into distinctive and characterful additions. Located in a quiet residential area, this project by DUA Architecture involved two imaginative interventions to an existing detached dwelling.

The first element was the part conversion of an attached garage into a unique library and home office, featuring a raised gallery accessed via an alternating tread staircase - a clever solution that unlocked use of the garage loft space. The second was the creation of a rear garden sunroom, complete with a vaulted roof, expansive glazing opening onto the garden, and a striking round “porthole” window that floods the interior with natural light.

These small-scale but highly creative changes demonstrate how thoughtful design can add charm, functionality, and individuality to a family home, perfectly complementing its Hampshire village setting.
