Waltons Avenue

Holbury, New Forest

This micro dwelling on a tight urban brownfield site at the edge of the New Forest National Park demonstrates how innovative design can maximize space and comfort on a very small plot. The home features a single bedroom, but feels spacious thanks to cathedral ceilings and large-format glazing.

To create outdoor amenity space, the open-plan kitchen and lounge opens directly onto a courtyard garden through folding sliding doors, seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor living. To prevent overheating from the generous glazing, the design incorporates Brise-Soleil solar shading, which protects the interior from high-angle summer sun while maintaining abundant natural light.

This project exemplifies efficient, contemporary micro dwelling design on constrained brownfield sites, providing modern, light-filled living near the New Forest without compromising on comfort or sustainability.
