Haskell House

Barton on Sea, Hampshire

This contemporary new dwelling in Barton on Sea was designed by DUA Architecture as part of a plot severance to an existing detached home on the south coast. The design creates a low-impact, sustainable addition to the town’s architectural fabric, combining modern aesthetics with sensitivity to context.

Featuring an undulating green roof, patterned timber cladding, and a covered verandah, the home embraces natural materials and a strong connection to its garden setting. The layout was carefully planned to ensure privacy from the host property and neighbours, with a linear floor plan that focuses living spaces toward the rear of the site.

At its heart, a stunning open-plan kitchen, dining, and living space opens onto the garden through large-format folding sliding doors, allowing light and nature to flood the interior. This project demonstrates how contemporary residential design in Barton on Sea can achieve modern elegance, sustainability, and contextual harmony.
