This house extension and renovation in Lymington by DUA Architecture transforms an existing dwelling into a contemporary, family-focused home. The project combines a sensitive rear extension with extensive internal remodelling to create generous open-plan living spaces, additional bedrooms and practical utility areas - all tailored to modern family life on the edge of the New Forest.
We responded to the site and existing fabric with a warm palette of contemporary materials that complement the original facing brickwork. The extension includes a covered external lounge with an external wood-burning stove, providing an all-season connection to the garden. Asymmetric roof forms and carefully considered vertical shifts produce dynamic internal volumes and efficient circulation, while large glazed elements bring daylight deep into the plan.
This Lymington project demonstrates how thoughtful home renovations and extensions can rejuvenate older houses -increasing functionality, comfort and long-term value while preserving local character.
