Hinton Wood Avenue
Highcliffe, Dorset
This project showcases a thoughtfully designed contemporary extension, intended to enhance a kitchen, dining, and lounge area while preserving the character of the existing home. Although the project was not constructed, it illustrates DUA Architecture’s approach to integrating modern design with traditional properties.
The proposed design introduced a new wing linked to the main dwelling via a glazed connection, creating a seamless flow between old and new. A long, low-slung standing seam zinc roof would have extended over the southern end to form covered outdoor space, while open ceilings and exposed scissor trusses would have added dramatic spatial quality and structural elegance.
This concept demonstrates how a contemporary house extension in Highcliffe can improve functionality and aesthetics without compromising the original property’s charm, using modern materials, elegant detailing, and thoughtful site integration.
