Moorlands College Auditorium
Moorlands College has operated at the Sopley site since 1970 and the majority of the buildings in present day use were built in the 1970’s and 1980‘s.
Until this project, chapel services, lectures and dining took place in a single shared hall which was one of the oldest buildings on site and in a very poor condition.
Top of the clients brief was to separate the shared uses of chapel services, lectures and dining from the existing hall. In order to do so a new building was proposed: the Wessex Auditorium.
Completed: 2016
This building is a multi functional facility that can be used both as a chapel and classrooms. The main space is designed for a capacity of 150 people which equates to the student numbers for a typical academic year.
This project was completed under budget and (while later than originally planned) in time for the new academic year. Feedback thus far from the client has been very positive.
